Primary Care UK - Let's Learn Together is there to serve one purpose: To unite and upskills the Primary Care Workforce through shared learning. It relies on the belief that if we learn together, not only will we improve clinically, but we will understand each other better too. For this reason, everything we publish here is designed to have broad relevance across Primary Care. Podcast episode content is always of value to many, if not all, groups within Primary Care.
Munir Adam first recognised the considerable potential of multi-professional clinical education in 2014 when he worked for a Training Hub in London. Excellent learning activities, with the patient at the centre, took form during that time. Feedback was excellent. But over time, and accelerated by the Covid 19 pandemic, the workforce in the NHS adopted remote means of learning like never before. Meanwhile a transformation was taking place in Primary Care, with new roles being developed at a large scale, supported by various initiatives such as the ARRS reimbursement scheme. This had many benefits, but also created much confusion and sometimes conflict. This is being addressed by many, and in many ways. Education is one key approach. Sometimes it works well, whilst at other times it is counter-productive - like when a discussion is directed at one profession, and makes others feel left out.
Therefore, in 2022 Munir Adam created the first cross-profession, all-encompassing podcast for healthcare workers in primary care. He was later joined by a variety of other professionals who now form the Primary Care UK team: representing nurses, paramedics, advanced practitioners, physician associates and clinical pharmacists, and a variety of geographical areas.
If it's relevant to the staff working in the frontline in Primary Care, it's relevant to Primary Care UK. We cover clinical updates, wellbeing topics, understanding roles, teaching and supervision and system updates. We receive contributions from a wide range of organisations and individual experts across the health and care sectors.
If we can speak the same language, we can learn together. If we can learn together, we're more likely to understand each other better, and work together more positively. If not, imagine what the consequences might be.
We hope we can connect with you.
Keep well and keep safe.
